Modern Sustainability: The GX42 Takes Shape
Blending contemporary Italian design with next-generation hybrid technology, the 42-metre GX42 is shaping up to be a defining launch for GX Superyachts. Now in the outfitting phase at SES Yachts in Istanbul and scheduled for delivery in summer 2026, this sleek, family-focused superyacht embodies the brand’s forward-thinking approach to sustainable luxury. With a hybrid propulsion system, solar power integration, and interiors tailored for relaxed, modern living, the GX42 promises the ideal for owners seeking low-impact cruising without compromise.
As the flagship of GX Superyachts’ range of aluminium vessels, the GX42 is designed inside and out by Marco Casali, with naval architecture by Francesco Rogantin. Her lightweight aluminium construction supports both performance and efficiency, while her profile is defined by clean lines and contemporary proportions.
The yacht’s hybrid propulsion system, now successfully tested, allows for electric cruising at low speeds, with seamless transitions to diesel power for longer passages. At anchor, she can operate silently for over 48 hours without running a generator, thanks to integrated solar panels and battery banks. The system reduces emissions by up to 40 percent compared to traditional yachts, making the GX42 a strong example of GX’s Responsible Yachting philosophy in action.
Construction is advancing steadily, with the hull and superstructure fully complete. Inside, half of the bespoke furniture has already been completed, giving form to Casali’s serene, family-oriented design language. The Raised Pilot House layout includes a main-deck owner’s suite and a full-beam VIP cabin, all finished in soft, natural tones and materials that reinforce the yacht’s calm, understated elegance.
Sea trials are planned for early 2026, and the GX42 remains on schedule for handover next summer. As the first in a line of GX models ranging from 24 to 56 metres, the GX42 represents more than just a flagship, it marks a shift towards smarter, more thoughtful yacht ownership. With her combination of sustainability, performance, and refined design, she offers a compelling new vision of yachting today.
"Each milestone reinforces our belief that the GX42 will set a new benchmark in responsible yachting."
