By Sophia Spanton

The countdown is on: when the Monaco Yacht Show opens its doors this September, a groundbreaking event will take centre stage, the inaugural Blue Wake Awards. Held on the festival’s Grand Opening Night, this landmark ceremony will celebrate the superyacht sector’s real strides in environmental innovation and sustainability, firmly placing green leadership at the heart of luxury yachting’s future.

Winners will be revealed on September 23rd, at a spectacular invitation-only gala in Monaco, with the show itself running through the week and featuring a record number of eco-minded exhibitors.Designed to reward the most innovative, operational, and effective sustainability solutions in yachting, the Blue Wake Awards spotlight exhibitors who are redefining what luxury means, with eco-credentials to match. All nominated companies have been rigorously assessed by the independent Water Revolution Foundation, ensuring only those making real impact are recognised.

The expert jury combines technical and industry know-how, including leaders from the Monaco Yacht Show, Siemens Energy, SuperYacht Times, Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, Blue Marine Foundation, and Boat International. Their individual scoring guarantees a thorough, transparent process to identify credible and creative solutions for cleaner oceans.

Yachting’s sustainability journey has often faced scepticism, but as superyacht owners, builders and designers adopt practical green measures, this new awards programme is set to accelerate meaningful change. Exhibitors such as MDL Marinas are already reporting dramatic reductions in carbon emissions, 54% over three years, thanks to solar power and renewable energy adoption.

The Blue Wake Awards 2025 will distinguish five categories: Luxury Products & Services, Nautical Supplier, Refit / Builder Shipyard, Tenders / Water Toys and the Special Jury Award rewarding a yacht exemplary in environmental sustainability.

Alongside the awards, visitors to the Monaco Yacht Show will discover the rejuvenated Blue Wake zone showcasing hybrid propulsion, green materials, solar tech and more, proof that luxury and responsibility now go hand in hand in the Riviera’s most glamorous marina.
