More Than a Concept: Nauta Design Unveils the XP75

By Frances Flannagan

Nauta Design has recently unveiled its XP75 to the industry: a 75m motor yacht that goes beyond Nauta’s previous catalogue of explorer vessels. She boasts an array of show-stopping elements, including two helipads, three pools, and an aquarium centrepiece on the main deck.

The XP75 has been inspired by a client’s brief, featuring advanced naval engineering from Azure Naval Architects.

‘A key word when we were designing the XP75 was flexibility,’ commented Martino Majno, Project Manager of the XP75. ‘An Ice Class yacht designed to operate in temperatures from -20 °C to 40°C, she is just as at home in the Arctic as in the Caribbean.’

As well as boasting outstanding operational efficiency, the XP75 has also been designed to reduce fuel consumption, with special double glazing and recycled engine cooling water. The technical spaces have been designed to allow for hybrid propulsion, saving fuel and increasing range to reduce the yacht’s overall environmental impact.

The XP75 flaunts a masculine exterior, whilst imbued with Nauta’s elegant trademark through gently inclined windows and chamfered edges. The design studio’s mantra of ‘less is more’ characterises the design of this yacht, as the team worked meticulously to clean and refine the exterior lines.

Nauta Design has used innovative methods to contribute to the yacht’s overall aesthetic, with Z-shaped fashion plates placed exactly amidships to maintain the balance between fore and aft, while the upper deck appears to be floating. In spite of her 1,900 GT volume, her profile appears low and sleek on the water, with a dark-painted bridge and sundeck reducing the impression of height.

Her layout has been designed to ensure luxurious comfort for the 12 guests onboard as well as practically for the crew of 24. The lower deck allows for efficient service, with two side platforms: one for guest to starboard and one for crew to port, alongside a portside hatch.

The XP75 boasts a 150 sqm garage that is able to house three tenders as well as a mini submarine and various water toys, whilst the stern is home to a beach club complete with a sauna, beauty salon and hammam. This overall area is increased to an impressive 185 sqm with three fold-down platforms, maximising the utility of the exterior spaces.

The pool is located on the main deck, which has a base that can be raised so that the aft deck is able to serve as a helipad: yet another innovative element of the XP75’s design. When she is at anchor, the foredeck is also able to double as a touch-and-go helipad, thanks to a telescopic mast and covered mooring deck. A sunken seating area can be found on the main deck, with a bar, DJ console and open-air cinema, protected by a sunroof that slides out of the deckhead.

The sundeck and observation deck are virtually invisible when the yacht is viewed in profile, boasting 65 sqm of space, a third pool with a waterfall feature and sunpads: the perfect space to relax and unwind.

Floor-to-ceiling windows have been implemented in the main saloon and dining room, showing off the outstanding 3mm ceiling height, whilst an aquarium against the forward bulkhead acts as a show-stopping centrepiece.

The main deck forward is home to five guest staterooms, of which the VIP suite can be divided by sliding panels to create an extra ensuite cabin.

The master cabin is devoted entirely to the Owner, boasting a forward-facing stateroom with an island bed that benefits from 180 degree views, alongside featuring intimate side decks and a hot tub on a private deck.

The upper deck aft also features a sky lounge that has a second projector, able to be used as a cinema room, while the aft deck is the perfect space for al fresco dining.

This dazzling new explorer project is the most advanced yacht ever to be designed by Nauta Design, a highly exciting offering to the superyacht industry as an exceptional blend of luxury, innovation, and sustainable initiatives. The XP75 is more than a concept: she is a mature project ready to start building.
