M/Y SAMADHI: A Six-Month Feadship Refit Masterclass
MY SAMADHI, the 61m Feadship delivered in 2006, emerges from an ambitious six-month refit as a refined case study in evolution over reinvention. The interior design was led by Laura Pomponi and her team at Luxury Projects, and the project introduced contemporary lifestyle features, wellness spaces and entertainment zones while honouring the yacht’s original engineering integrity and timeless aesthetic.
The Owner’s brief was precise: enhance MY SAMADHI for global cruising, family life and charter without radical change. Working in close coordination with Feadship, the Captain and crew, Luxury Projects developed a scope that balanced aesthetic refresh, functional upgrades and technical optimisation, all delivered to a compressed timeline.
This approach demonstrates how clear vision and tight collaboration can extend a proven platform’s lifecycle, repositioning MY SAMADHI for today’s discerning charter market and private owners.
A centrepiece intervention saw the addition of an 8m³ swimming pool on the main deck aft. Engineered by Feadship with design input from Luxury Projects, the installation demanded significant structural reinforcement, a class-compliant dump tank and rigorous stability analysis to accommodate the added weight and systems.
Forgoing conventional swim jets, the solution integrates discreet ceiling tie-down points with a bespoke belt-and-rope ‘swim-against-current’ rig. This allows swimmers to hold position while enjoying uninterrupted sea views through the pool’s aft glass partition, with new glass windbreaks enhancing comfort underway.
The bridge deck aft evolved from a simple dining area into a full-beam entertainment terrace. Custom loose sofas by Luxury Projects, designed to read as fixed architectural elements with adjustable feet to follow deck camber, pair with a sculptural bar unit and multi-level cinema sofas for seamless transitions from day lounging to evening gatherings.
Lower deck transformation turned a former technical lazarette into a luxury beach club and toy garage. Custom-grooved engineered wood, typically reserved for decking, clads ceilings and walls, creating a durable yet refined guest-facing space that aligns with SAMADHI’s charter orientation.
The Owner’s suite gained a private spa by converting a 3.5 x 4m walk-in wardrobe. Highlights include a 2°C ice bath, convertible massage/relaxation bed and a swing-out professional hairdressing station, completing a wellness circuit with the existing sauna and steam shower.
The interior aft Salon now accommodates a cinema configuration, thanks to the custom-designed multi-level sofas engineered and supplied by Luxury Projects, a new bespoke bar unit and a sculptural multifunction table, allowing for both informal daytime lounging to evening social gatherings.
New ceilings, wall paneling, carpets, lighting and bespoke furniture were designed and supplied by the Luxury Projects team around a multisensory approach, with materials and colours aligned with the owner’s preferences.
Delivered on schedule for the Mediterranean season, MY SAMADHI now sails as a versatile Feadship flagship: wellness-focused, charter-ready and engineered for the world. This refit exemplifies how intelligent design meets technical excellence to future-proof a superyacht icon.
