M/Y SOLIS: The Perfectly Proportioned Superyacht

By Emily Dawkins

When it comes to searching for the perfect new superyacht, how big does it really need to be? With accommodation for eight guests, a sun deck with a Jacuzzi, and a chic yet comfortable saloon with floor-to-ceiling windows, it seems obvious that 34 metres is truly perfect. Meet SOLIS, currently listed for sale with Moravia Yachting.

Unsurprisingly, it’s often the larger superyachts that make a splash when they join the brokerage market. However,  34m SOLIS’ faultless combination of Dutch build pedigree and full-custom design and construction makes her one of the smallest, yet most premium, superyachts now available.

Built by Mulder Shipyard in the Netherlands in 2013, with interior and exterior design by Claydon Reeves, SOLIS became quite the notable new build. ‘The build story is quite special,’ shares William Molloy, Head of Charter at Moravia Yachting, who assisted the owners with their new-build commission in 2013. ‘I had been introduced to the owners through a family friend, and we visited Pendennis Shipyard, Moonen, Hakvoort and Feadship in our search for the right team to construct their desired 31m new build. It was actually Tom de Vries at Feadship who suggested we take a look at Mulder.’

At the time, Mulder was mainly only known for its smaller motor yachts under 24m, but the clients and Molloy were impressed by the yard’s brand-new Holland-based facilities, and its recent completion of a 28m flybridge vessel in 2010 reassured their capabilities to create something unique.

SOLIS was delivered in 2015: heralded something of a new era for the Mulder Shipyard and launching them onto the international stage for the construction of larger, full-custom motor yachts. She arguably led the way for Mulder’s successful ThirtySix semi-custom series (36m), the seventh of which is currently nearing completion in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands.

Now, SOLIS is presented for sale for the first time since her launch in 2015, listed by William Molloy; the broker that introduced the family to Mulder shipyard back in 2012.

Streamlined proportions and an elegant silhouette combined with a near-vertical bow, give SOLIS a progressive, modern edge compared to other yachts of the same size.

Her main deck features a dining table to the aft that converts to a huge sun pad, and full-height glass doors lead to a chic saloon lounge that boasts floor-to-ceiling windows down both sides. A statement bar is centrally positioned, and forward of this resides a more formal interior dining area with sliding doors and a balcony to her starboard side. Her interior is light, bright, and has wide appeal with its delicate curves and a subtle definition between interior social spaces that can be dialled up or down to suit any occasion.

A standout feature onboard SOLIS is her sizeable sun deck. Alongside sweeping curved seating and an alfresco dining table, guests will find a Jacuzzi with a bar top, as well as a bank of sun pads for enjoying the elevated views.

Accommodation for eight is found across four lavish yet comfortable suites. A VIP suite is located on the main deck, with a spectacular above-bed skylight, and a full-beam master suite as well as two twin cabins are located on the lower deck. SOLIS also has separate accommodation for six crew.

SOLIS is charter ready and presents enormous possibilities for a new owner. ‘She’d be a sought-after addition to the Mediterranean or Bahamas-based charter fleet, and offers family cruising at exceptional levels of luxury,’ commented Sam Tucker, Palma-based sales broker for Moravia Yachting, who shares the CA listing for SOLIS with Moravia colleague, Roy Posthuma. ‘Constructed in steel with an aluminium superstructure, SOLIS is one of few custom builds in this size bracket and she has been kept in immaculate condition.’

There is no doubt about it that 34m SOLIS is indeed the perfectly proportioned superyacht.

SOLIS has a trans-Atlantic range, a top speed of 13 knots, and at-anchor stabilisers. She is currently listed for sale for €13,900,000. To find out more about SOLIS, get in touch with the team at Moravia Yachting today.
