Negotiating through the pandemic has not been easy for the majority of the yachting industry but Camper & Nicholsons appear to have navigated its way through the past eighteen months with a steady hand at the helm: "Camper & Nicholsons was already quite well organised because we have an emergency plan in place." commented Group CEO Paolo Casani."The last period of 2020 the business suddenly started to pick up. The last quarter of 2020 was quite good actually".
With cautious buyers delaying their superyacht purchases until after the pandemic, this year has seen record numbers of sales within the brokerage sector; we were curious as to how Camper & Nicholsons stays ahead of the curve with these increasing sales numbers. "I think there is always a concentration of business on some of the most important companies, nowadays when we sell a yacht we need to work with many topics, not only putting together a buyer and a seller [...] this means we have to be more and more a company with a structure, with important skills ".
With the 72m M/Y AZTECA being exhibited at the show, we were of course curious to ask about the speculation that Bitcoin was being accepted as the currency for her sale: "We know that there are a lot of transactions around the world done in Bitcoin. We know that some of the most important and visionary entrepreneurs are choosing to do that." Paolo commented. "A company like Camper & Nicholsons has to explore the possibility, has to understand how to do it, how to manage [...] We do expect more owners in the future to ask to sell by using Bitcoin".
The horizon seemed to be teeming with future projects for Camper & Nicholsons; the Group CEO divulged just a taste of what the future holds for the prestigious brokerage: "We do not aquire any services from outside, everything is delevoped in house." the Group CEO commented. "I think this is the future, we will invest more and more in the future".
