MYS 2021: Morley Yachts on the Perks of a Boutique Brokerage

By Freya Cottrell

Joined by the Founder of Morley Yachts, Tim Morley, we sat down to discuss CHRISTINA O the infamous 100m superyacht favoured by Winston Churchill and Aristotle Onassis. Plus, he divulged how a compact company, such as Morley Yachts, fared during the pandemic.

An established brokerage, Morley Yachts began back in 2005 in the port of Antibes and since then Tim Morley has kept the business small to reduce the amount of hassle and to keep a sense of familiarity with potential yacht owners: "We're a small company, I like it that way. [...] That is different to a lot of companies, and I think it makes sense because you can take a client from day one of doing small boat charter, then get bigger to obviously buying a yacht and they deal with me through that whole process."

The infamous superyacht Christina O is available to charter with Morley Yachts. A classic yacht with a tantilising history, Tim Morley divulges a little about the yacht favoured by the Golden Age Hollywood elite: "I am super proud to be involved with Christina O, she is a 100m yacht with an incredible history. Built as a warship in 1943, she did fantastic things during the second world war. Amazing things, she was involved in the D-Day landings."

We were interested to know how the pandemic had effected a compact business such as Morley and how that has effected yacht bookings for the upcoming season: "Last year was a tough one." commented the Founder. "This year it has really bounced back.Yachts are getting booked now ready for next year which is even earlier than usual. And there is going to be a feeling of pressure to book because otherwise there won't be anything left."

"Rule number one is that we look after the best interest of the client."
