MYS 2022: Henk de Vries Discusses Feadship’s Bright Future

By Emily Dawkins

We were extremely excited to be joined in the studio on the first day of the 2022 Monaco Yacht Show by the charismatic Feadship CEO Henk De Vries. In conversation with the CEO, we discussed the family heritage behind the yard, how it continues to innovate, and what's next for both Feadship, and the industry according to de Vries.

‘It feels a little bit like dancing on a volcano’, is how Feadship CEO Henk De Vries described the current superyacht market. Despite a tumultuous few years for the industry with the effects of the pandemic, the CEO told us how Feadship instead has witnessed an incredible two years: ‘We have not sold as many boats in a two-year period as the past two years…our order book is bigger than ever.'

‘I was looking for momentum for Feadship to start promoting a new generation of superyachts.’

It is no secret that Feadship is renowned for pioneering innovative technology and sustainable solutions onboard its superyachts and within its extensive Dutch facilities. The CEO commented on how the yard is, ‘pushing forward with using materials in an innovative fashion’ including the use of paints.

De Vries commented on how, for Feadship, the core qualities of the yard lie with its rich heritage: ‘We are a family enterprise - it permeates everything that we do’.

As an esteemed figurehead within the superyacht industry, Henk de Vries shared with us his thoughts on the next generation’s superyacht sector: ‘the yachting industry as a whole I think has a really bright future’.

We can certainly look forward to the future of yachting with a shipyard such as Feadship at the helm.
