MYS 2022: Superyacht Australia On Exploring New Grounds
Here at the Monaco Yacht Show, Superyachts.com spoke with David Good, CEO of Superyacht Australia about the ever-growing superyacht industry down under.
Good delves into the main draws that attract visitors from around the world, and ultimately how the country offers a truly unique, all-year-round cruising experience for superyachts.
"The continent is so vast you can go north in the middle of the winter and its still 30 degrees with beautiful weather. You can cruise the southern itiniery in summer," says Good.
"The country is so huge, you can experience amazing cruising without ever leaving.”
With far more to explore than Sydney and the Great Barrier Reef, Australia is gradually becoming a superyacht hub for yacht owners to explore; working as part of the broader South Pacific region to present an alternative, adventurous cruising ground.
"It's the remoteness, the areas that you can’t get into. We’re the world’s largest island and it makes sense to explore Australia from a yacht. We offer great culture for the marine industry," he explains.
"The Kimberleys is an area that is highly attractive due to its remote coastline, its sof ar removed form anything else youd find in the rest of the world."
For yacht owners, it’s crucial to have a reliable and adequate refit and maintenance facilities to service their vessels.
"We cover the whole industry in Australia. We come to shows like Monaco to promote Australia and attract vessels to cruise Australia. We offer first class refit maintenance. We’re the refit and maitnence hub for the whole of the South Pacific."
Good also explains how Australia has been implementing major developments to meet such demands, and the many benefits to building a custom superyacht in Australia, after the dramatic emergence of the 85 explorer from Silver Yachts this year.
"We cover the whole industry in Australia. We come to shows like Monaco to promote Australia and attract vessels to cruise Australia. We offer first class refit maintenance. We’re the refit and maintenance hub for the whole of the south pacific."
