MYS 2023: All Aspects of the Monaco Yacht Show with Managing Director Gaëlle Tallarida

By Frances Flannagan

On day two of the Monaco Yacht Show, we were delighted to welcome the Managing Director of the show, Gaëlle Tallarida, to our interview studio. Discussing all aspects from enhancing visitor experience to sustainability, the truly exceptional nature of the event is showcased.

Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show, provided a complete overview of what makes the show so spectacular. In recent years, a lot of emphasis has been placed on enhancing the visitors' experiences; notably, the growing programme for VIP attendees. Elements of this experience include VIP entrances into the show as well as the Sapphire Programme, an initiative which selects guests who wish to buy or rent a boat.

Since 2005, the show has had an unwavering commitment to sustainability. Tallarida commented:

‘The first initiatives, as the show organiser, was how we can sort better waste produced by the show and we committed last year to the programme set by the Government of Monaco for the prediction of the environment. We commit with them to reduce the CO2 prediction of the show by 60 percent within 3 years.’

Alongside working with the Government is the notion of participants assisting the positive environmental change as well as the Sustainability Hub, which has returned for the second year in a row. With regards to the Hub, Tallarida commented: ‘Again, we work with the Water Revolution Foundation to make sure the companies attending the pavilion are respecting a certain number of criteria.’

The Hub which showcases the latest innovative designs is not the only way the show is promoting positive change; a series of conferences and events are also available for visitors to fully immerse themselves in the ways the show is developing. On the eve of the show, ‘The Honours’ was organised with the Superyacht Life Foundation to exhibit the fantastic initiatives that the industry is developing for environmental reasons as well as for diversity, notably increasing the representation of women within the industry.
