MYS 2023: BG CHARADE Owner on his Yacht’s Unique History

BG Charade has a quite remarkable and fascinating history. First launched by renowned Dutch builder Feadship in 1990, the superyacht was originally owned by Paul Allen, before being passed on to Joe Lewis. It seems Bobby is doing his utmost to preserve the lively atmosphere she has been known for.

“Charade was originally owned by Paul Allen. Paul literally took her around the world three different times, Bill and Melinda Gates had their honeymoon on the boat. Paul was an avid musician, so he would have Peter Gabriel fly in, Phil Collins, and everybody to jam with! The history and the legacy of the boat is incredible.”

After a substantial refit to reinvigorate her to modern standards of luxury, BG Charade remains a statement of class and elegance. Bobby discusses why he had to choose a Feadship.

“The history of Feadship, it’s truly the Rolls Royce of yachting… if you’re buying a boat and should be lucky enough to own a Feadship, you’ve made it. I think there’s a big thing between buying quality versus quantity. I feel incredibly blessed to have been the curator or the owner of BG Charade over the last 9 years.”

After 9 years of travelling the world onboard this magnificent yacht, and with his kids less available to take off on adventures, Bobby has decided it is time to find BG Charade a new owner. She is listed for sale asking $16,000,000 with Cecil Wright, however, it’s proving a difficult decision for Bobby to part with the yacht.

“It’s sort of a sad moment,” reflected Bobby. “The more people tell me they love it the more I think I shouldn’t sell it!”

BG Charade welcomed guests on the Thursday evening of the Show for a celebration of all things luxury, in association with Superyachts.com, ALBA Palm Beach, Cecil Wright, and The Islands of the Bahamas.
