MYS 2023: Cecil Wright’s Philosophy of Building Relationships

By Frances Flannagan

Kicking off the second day of the Monaco Yacht Show, we spoke to Chris Cecil-Wright Founder of Cecil Wright. Making headlines just a couple of weeks ago due to the speedy sale of KISMET, Cecil-Wright articulates his relationship-driven approach to brokerage.

Gaining attention before the Monaco Yacht Show even started, Cecil Wright takes its place as a key exhibitor here at the Monaco Yacht Show. Following the impressive sale of 95m KISMET, with Will Christie of Christie Yachts introducing the buyer, Cecil Wright has replaced this member of the fleet with the equally notable yacht 90m PHOENIX 2. A boat that Cecil-Wright described as ‘all glamour’ with ‘extremely high-end interior’ and ‘lots of places to experience different atmospheres’, PHOENIX 2 is certainly a highlight of the Monaco Yacht Show 2023.

Cecil-Wright described the company’s role as the central agent for this vessel: ‘Our job as the central agent is to work with all the other agents and to welcome them. Not to push them away, but to welcome them in.’ This encapsulates the entire essence of the brokerage, with a key philosophy of building relationships.

Alongside PHOENIX 2, on display with Cecil Wright is BG CHARADE, an example of their continued ‘love affair with Feadship.’

The brokerage, which is growing despite the Founder's desire to stay small and intimate, has an exciting future ahead, as it is to spend more time in the USA to cater to the huge American Market.
