MYS 2023: Christie Yachts’ Landmark Sale of 95m KISMET
Will Christie of Christie Yachts joined us at the Superyachts.com interview studio for the first time. Completing the recent landmark sale of 95m KISMET, Christie Yachts’ approach to business and understanding of the current climate of brokerage sets the firm in very high standing.
Starting Christie Yachts only two years ago, Will Christie, a highly experienced player within the industry, has already seen his expertise come to fruition with the landmark sale of Lürssen’s 95m KISMET just ten days ago. Christie commented, ‘I think the sales and success we’ve had are beyond my expectations’, which can certainly be seen in this spectacular sale. A boat of this magnitude brings exceptional credibility to the brokerage firm, which will only contribute to its success even more.
‘I hope that it will give other clients the comfort that we are a really viable alternative to some of the bigger, more established companies. I think we just offer something a bit different.’
Christie’s approach to business showcases his exceptional knowledge of the industry, aiming to make the process fun for both his clients as well as his team. He also gave us an insight into the current climate of the brokerage market, acknowledging how in the last twelve months the brokerage and second-hand market has split into two. There is an increased demand for boats under 15 years old, all selling at big prices. Clients have begun to recognise the value in buying a brokerage yacht, and this is something that Christie Yachts is catering for.
Christie aims to grow his team organically, finding good people to work with. Placing a strong value on positive referrals, he commented: ‘The thing I find most pleasing about my job is when clients refer us to friends, because you really see that as the highest reference.’
