MYS 2023: Coco Wolf’s Combination of Luxury and Sustainability

By Frances Flannagan

Providing the stunning sofa for our Interview Studio at Monaco this year, we were joined by Amie Scull and James Lorimer to discuss Coco Wolf, a business which promotes not only luxury, but sustainability. Its beautiful furniture lends itself perfectly to the superyacht industry, due to its opulent nature and longevity.

Coco Wolf is an award-winning furniture company which promotes luxury as well as sustainability. This, James Lorimer and Amie Scull explained, is the core of the business. All timber used is FSC certified and the fabrics used are all either partly or fully recycled.

Recently, the company has developed initiatives regarding the sustainability of the packaging of its projects. Reusable cases have been the solution, which protects the furniture whilst producing no extra waste, as they are then returned to Coco Wolf to be reused. Additionally, Coco Wolf has started a project with a company that works with the UN, and are set to plant around 14,000 Iroko trees, showing how the company is positively contributing to the environment.

Whilst having an unwavering commitment to sustainability, Coco Wolf also aims to make furniture that lasts, regardless of weather conditions.

Amie commented: ‘It’s engineered to live outside; whether that’s really hot sun, salt, chlorine if you’re by the pool, all the elements…built to withstand them all. We ship globally and it survives in all different weathers.’

It is also built so it can be upholstered with ease, to follow changing trends and the desires of clients. This is one of the many reasons that Coco Wolf’s furniture is well-suited to the superyacht industry; James acknowledged that one of the desires of the company was to make ‘a product that was easy to maintain, [that] can stay outside’ , which has been achieved and lends itself well to a yachting lifestyle. The bespoke nature, which Amie commented on, is also a highlight of the company, as clients become involved within the process to ensure the perfect piece of furniture:

'Because everything is fully customisable, it has a huge bespoke element in terms of the relationship and what we’re able to do and achieve in terms of finish, shape, function, formality…it’s definitely a real part of the process.'

With all the materials being marine-grade and all pieces fully customisable, Coco Wolf’s creations are certainly something of a superyacht owner’s dream.
