MYS 2023: Discovering the Drive Behind The A Group

With a strong theme of design, vision and teamwork, the interview kicked off with Dorreman and Hein’s shared love for the Monaco Yacht Show. Hein described The Monaco Yacht Show as, ‘a unique event that started many moons ago’, with the connections and new technology that come with Monaco are what make it so useful for The A Group. With a couple of offices around the world, one location being Monaco, it also doesn't hurt that the event is happening close to home.   

‘In Oceanco we found the perfect partner’. With very interesting tales behind Project H, we were glad to hear more about it. In Hein’s words, ‘once we presented the project to Oceanco, they decided that this was something that was truly interesting because it's trying to link the past with the future’. The vessel was completely transformed including making it more efficient. 

For further insight into the building process and behind the scenes of Project H, they added, ‘it's the first time that the designer and builder had to physically rebuild a boat twice because we rebuilt the boat in its entirety. There is not an electrical cable, pump or pipe that we made the same.’Dorreman was excited to add that the interior and exterior design was done by Reymond Langton Design, and she met Hein on one of their past builds.

When asked about their drive and inspiration behind their creativity, there were two clear answers: he team and the yacht. Dorreman explained their core company ethos as, ‘we work for the boat. We are not working for anyone else, it’s all about the boat…if you come to the party with that mindset, that makes a successful project’.
