MYS 2023: Heesen Yachts Unveils New 50m Project GRACE
Amidst the perfect chaos of the 2023 Monaco Yacht show, Heesen Yachts' CCO, Mark Cavendish, joined Shari Liu in our interview studio. With an exciting announcement, new launches to discuss and insight into Heesen Yachts' sustainability approach, Heesen certainly kicked off the first day of interviews with dynamism.
On the morning of Wednesday the 27th of September, Heesen announced, ‘we are starting a new 50-metre steel displacement motor yacht’, with designs recently finished by Peder Eidsgaard of Harrison Eidsgaard, the leading superyacht and aviation design company. She will be ready for delivery in 2027, taking the name, Project GRACE, including features that the CCO said, 'we hope will last and stand the test of time’, as Heesen designed these to be forward-looking with the future in mind.
The next milestone for Heesen is 80m GENESIS, delivered only three weeks ago to her owners; there was sadly no time to get her to show for this year. With a speed of just under 30 knots and all-aluminium, ‘she's probably the biggest and fastest aluminium motor yacht out there at the moment’ commented Cavendish. With her interior design by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, and her exterior design by Winch, she was described as ‘the trinity’ of yacht building.
In terms of any other new launches for the Dutch shipyard, there is also ULTRA G, a custom 60-metre motor yacht, with a top speed of about 27 knots. An interesting note about this vessel is that the owner has a liking for calamari, and they had ‘calamari lights’ installed, with the CCO telling us that, 'at night you can flock these calamari lights down, it's a very high-intensity light, and it’ll attract calamari!'
Mention of BlueNautech sparked a conversation on conservation in the marine industry, and Cavendish was eager to explain how increased hull efficiency can make a big difference in the eyes of sustainability.
