MYS 2023: Oceanco Reveals Revisiting the 80-Metre Market

By Sophia Spanton

Back this year with more news than ever, Oceanco's Paris Baloumis joined our host, Shari Liu, in the studio at the Monaco Yacht Show. The Group Marketing Director was ‘excited to announce a new journey’ of re-entering the 80m market, alongside discussing the yard's new project, Project H.

Paris Baloumis represented Oceanco today, excited about reconnecting with clients and representatives at the show, but most of all excited to discuss Oceanco's new plans and projects. When asking what he was looking forward to, Baloumis replied he is excited‘to bring across the energy, of which is happening back at the shipyard with 1500 colleagues working on our big projects’.

In the interview, Paris revealed that Oceanco has officially entered the 80m market. To re-establish itself in this market, the yard has collaborated with various designers and built portfolios unlike any others that are based on a technical foundation at Oceanco, of which, are anticipated to be highly customised.

Project H is described as a ‘complete rebuild’ by Baloumis. A boat that entered the shipyard as a 20-year-old Oceanco was brought back into the market with innovative technologies and luxury design. Baloumis tells the Superyachts.com studio that, ‘the project really signifies how you can take on an old project and give it a future life’. Giving something a second chance is an inspiring example of sustainability within the marine building industry, and a demonstration of the sentimentality that lies behind repurposing. Oceanco described her rebuild as a ‘transformation.'

On the horizon for Oceanco is to stay focused on its energy transition platform. To find out more watch the interview above.
