MYS 2024: Burgess Making History with Largest Ever Yacht Displayed at MYS
On the opening morning of the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show, we were delighted to welcome Burgess’ Jonathan Beckett to the Superyachts.com interview studio. The Managing Director and Chief Executive shared with Shari Liu some insights on two shining stars of Burgess' fleet in attendance, the brand’s increasing presence in the United States and the five show-stopping sales made just days before the most anticipated event of the yachting calendar year.
Burgess’ presence here at the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) holds more significance than ever before, as this year the brokerage presents not just two of the largest yachts at the show, but the largest vessel to ever be displayed. The attendance of 123m GOLDEN ODYSSEY is sure to go down in the history of the MYS, as she graces the show awaiting a new Owner.
112m RENAISSANCE is another captivating addition to Burgess’ fleet, perfectly suited to the charter market due to her generous volumes.
Jonathan Beckett, Managing Director of Burgess, commented: ‘It’s one of my favourite yachts in our charter fleet… She's unique. She’s the queen of the fleet.’
With the view to increase its presence in the United States, Beckett shared some insights into the importance of America for the brokerage house. Burgess is due to shortly open more offices in Palm Beach and Aspen, expanding their footprint across the continent.
Prior to the MYS, Burgess sold five yachts in five days: a true milestone for the company. ‘It put a real spring in people’s step, all the stars aligned and it’s a great way to go into the boat show.’
As the brokerage house prepares to enter its 50th year, we can only expect more spectacular things from Burgess. ‘We’re doing a lot of planning for that, it’s going to be an exciting year for us… We’ve got lots of great events planned.’
