MYS 2024: Heirlooms on Reflecting the Excellence of Superyacht Design and Engineering

By Frances Flannagan

At the 33rd edition of the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS), Shari Liu had the pleasure of speaking with Ruth Douglas, Managing Director at Heirlooms. Shedding light on this highly niche aspect of the superyacht industry, Douglas revealed the many exceptional ways that the brand works to elevate the superyacht experience to unprecedented heights.

Attending the MYS for the 22nd year, Heirlooms boasts a significant presence within the superyacht industry, as the company’s Managing Director Ruth Douglas shared her excitement about visiting the Superyachts.com interview studio for the first time.

Douglas shared insights into the manufacturing company, which designs bed, table and bathroom linens using Italian woven fabric. By controlling all aspects of manufacturing, Heirlooms has positioned itself as a highly unique company.

Primarily a trades company, Heirlooms splits its business between residential, yachts and private aircraft. Its team works on a custom basis, looking at each individual project to understand the client, and basing the design off of that.

The brand boasts a highly sustainable approach to design, having been awarded King Charles’ Royal Warrant.

Douglas commented: ‘As a small company we have actually done a huge amount in ensuring we work and operate in a sustainable manner.’

Heirlooms has many significant partnerships across the industry; namely Sunseeker, Gulf Craft and Princess Yachts. The brand truly is the ‘icing on the cake’ of superyacht design, which was beautifully articulated by Douglas:

‘Our job is to reflect the excellence in engineering and design that goes into the vessels.’

At the MYS 2024, Heirlooms linens could be seen on all Sunseeker boats, alongside boasting crew linens onboard 122m KISMET.
