MYS 2024: Insights from Amer Yachts on Innovating the Future of Yachting

By Sophia Spanton

At The Monaco Yacht Show 2024, Barbara Amerio, Founder of Amer Yachts, along with Luiz De Basto, Founder of De Basto Design, shared exciting updates about the Italian yard's latest developments. They announced the commencement of construction on new facilities and, for the first time, the promotion of Amer Yachts' steel production.

When discussing what sets Amer Yachts apart from competitors, De Basto highlighted the shipyard's 41-metre explorer project, which is a larger and more modern version of a previous yacht built for the same client.

‘We got lucky enough to be selected by Amer, and it was a wonderful family and shipyard ambiance. The owner felt very comfortable with the quality and technical side, and that is it; we are in construction right now,’ De Basto explained.

The yacht features several distinguished features, some of them being integrated cranes for tenders and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, creating a stunning effect that allows guests to feel as if they are floating over the water.

Looking to the future, Amer Yachts aims to address the gender gap in the industry and appeal to the younger people industry. The team is committed to fostering a more inclusive environment within yachting whilst continuing to innovate and deliver high-quality vessels.

Overall, Amerio and De Basto conveyed a strong vision for Amer Yachts as the Italian yard embarks on new projects, striving to make a positive impact in the luxury yacht market. Amer's dedication to craftsmanship and innovation positions them well for continued success in the industry.
