MYS 2025: Albert Morell of Port Denia on Elevating the Superyacht Refit Experience

By Nora Hart

Albert Morell, General Manager of Port Denia, joined us at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show to discuss the growing reputation of this dynamic Spanish superyacht hub, and why more captains and owners are turning to Denia for their refit projects.

Port Denia has seen significant growth in recent years, with both its full-service shipyard and superyacht marina now standing out as competitive alternatives to more traditional refit destinations. ‘It’s important to have good facilities as the base,’ Morell explained, ‘and at Port Denia, we can do everything.’

Morell also spoke about the added appeal of Denia itself, an authentic Spanish town with year-round life, positioned conveniently between Valencia and Alicante, both with international airports.

A key differentiator, Morell shared, is the shipyard’s open model, allowing captains and managers the freedom to select their own subcontractors. ‘For me, one of the most important things is that people come back again,’ he said, highlighting that many clients enjoy the experience so much, they return, and recommend Port Denia to their peers.

With a growing footprint in the refit sector and a clear focus on flexibility, quality, and location, Port Denia is fast becoming a compelling alternative for superyachts seeking a personal, efficient, and enjoyable refit experience.
