At the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, Shari Liu sat down with Jonathan Beckett, Managing Partner and Chief Executive of Burgess, to discuss the evolving superyacht brokerage sector. Jonathan provided a comprehensive overview of how client expectations are shifting in 2025, with buyers increasingly seeking highly personalised experiences, cutting-edge design innovations, and environmentally conscious amenities. He reflected on the dynamic market trends and the fresh challenges that the sector is navigating this year.

Burgess’s representation of landmark yachts such as Amadeus illustrates the current direction of superyacht design and owner preferences, In the words of Jonathan Beckett, ‘they might be landmark yachts because of who built them, who designed them or who owns them’

These vessels showcase a blend of grand scale, luxurious comforts, and state-of-the-art technology, setting new standards in the industry and attracting a global clientele with discerning tastes.

Looking towards the future, Beckett predicts, ‘I think we are going to see the next generation getting really involved in the yacht industry…this next generation are the ones that are going to create the demand and the design for the next few years… maybe we will see more opulent and more practical.’

 

As the brokerage house prepares to enter the next year, we can only expect more spectacular things from Burgess. ‘We’re all looking away from printed adverstising and looking towards social media and different ways of touching our clients...it can be a very personal experience.’
