MYS 2025: BYS International on Brazil’s Rise and Driving Demand

By Nora Hart

João Kossmann, Managing Partner of BYS International, joined us here at the Superyachts.com during the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show to discuss the company’s remarkable journey from local trailblazer to international player in the global superyacht realm.

Founded in 2012, BYS International has established itself as Latin America's first agency dedicated exclusively to superyachts. Speaking with host Shari Liu, Kossmann reflected on the passion that fuelled the company’s foundation, and how Brazil's untapped potential, as a world leader in executive aviation and home to the second-largest helicopter fleet, is now beginning to mirror a similar trajectory in yachting.

‘We believe Brazil has a huge potential for yachting,’ he said, noting record-breaking charter activity this year and an increasing number of Brazilian owners stepping into the superyacht market. From brokerage and charter to management, shipyard representation, and consultancy, BYS has developed into a full-service house designed to guide clients through every aspect of yacht ownership.

Kossmann also highlighted the firm’s close collaboration with Brazilian shipbuilder MCP Yachts, calling it ‘a very important milestone.’ He spoke proudly of MCP’s rise on the global stage, including their successful showcase of a new global explorer model at Cannes, further securing Brazil’s place in international yachting.

As for Monaco, BYS used this year’s show to further strengthen relationships and explore new brokerage and management opportunities, a sign of the company’s growing presence on the global circuit.
