MYS 2025: Inside Bering Yachts’ Quest for Off-Grid Adventure and Comfort

By Sophia Spanton

At the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, Alexei Mikhailov, CEO and founder of Bering Yachts, reflected on a transformative year for the company marked by the unveiling of the impressive Bering 165.

He described how this model embodies the true explorer yacht DNA, blending rugged capability with refined luxury. 'It is one of the most popular models in the superyacht division, it is an explorer cross-over, but you can make it very personal'. Mikhailov emphasised Bering’s philosophy of balancing high-end interior design and guest comfort with the robust engineering essential for reliable long-range voyaging. 'We are now developing this model for 4 different customers and they are all very different'.

With owners increasingly seeking off-grid cruising adventures, Bering prioritises yachts that can reach the most remote destinations while supporting extended journeys with autonomy and resilience. 'First of all you have to have enough fuel, our boats usually have 20-30% more fuel than the average size, and more storage', Mikhailov explains.

Looking forward, Mikhailov expressed enthusiasm for innovations and upcoming projects designed to advance exploration yacht design, underlining Bering’s commitment to combining function, durability, and elegance in every vessel they create.
