MYS 2025: Lu Kenhard of Luxe and Keel on Uniforms with Style and Substance

By Nora Hart

Lu Kenhard, founder of Luxe & Keel, joined us at the Superyachts.com studio during the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show to reflect on three transformative years of redefining crew wear for the modern superyacht. Drawing from over 15 years in the yachting industry herself, Kenhard brought both authority and authenticity to the conversation, offering insight into how Luxe & Keel continues to elevate what a uniform can be.

Kenhard shared how her fashion-forward approach bridges the gap between off-the-shelf basics and time-consuming bespoke solutions. ‘It was time for a change,’ she said. ‘Uniforms don’t need to be boring. They should be functional, breathable, no-fuss, but also something you actually want to wear.’

Her materials are carefully chosen for yachting life: breathable, no-iron, and tested personally on board. As an ex-yacht chef herself, Kenhard understands first-hand the demands crew face in varying climates and across long seasons. ‘That’s the beauty of me being ex-yacht crew, I know what you need.’

Shari Liu and Kenhard discussed how crew wear has evolved, especially for women, with Luxe & Keel leading a subtle but powerful shift in both style and mindset. With smart base palettes and options for personalisation, Luxe & Keel continues to change the game.

From practical design to personal passion, Kenhard’s brand remains grounded in the foundations of the industry, while looking toward the future of what yacht uniforms can be.
