MYS 2025: Oceanco’s New Vision with Gabe Newell Drives Innovation

At the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, Superyachts.com’s Shari Liu spoke with Paris Baloumis, Group Marketing Director, and Wim Verhoeff, Sales Director at Oceanco. The conversation covered Oceanco’s impressive recent deliveries and what’s on the horizon for the rest of the year, highlighting a bold new chapter under the recent ownership of Gabe Newell.

Paris tells Shari; 'Gabe, he really likes to be a part of the team, he is not a regular investor and he thinks exactly like us. Innovation is not in a certain department, it should be in the entire company.’

Paris and Wim discussed how this change is sharpening the company’s vision and driving greater focus on innovation. They addressed evolving client priorities in 2025, particularly around yacht size, layout, onboard experiences, and cutting-edge technology and shared how Oceanco’s designs and projects reflect these shifts thoughtfully.

Sustainability remains a core focus for Oceanco, with integration of eco-friendly materials, propulsion systems, and environmentally responsible construction methods that maintain luxury and scale without compromise. As Paris said, ‘sustainability is very big, sometimes the direction goes very easily into carbon, but we made sure to broaden the sustainability framework.’ 

 Looking ahead, the team expressed excitement about pushing boundaries in superyachting and positioning Oceanco as a leader in the industry’s next phase.
