MYS 2025: Ports of Monaco, Cala del Forte Are Expanding Excellence Beyond the Principality

By Grace Elmes

At the Superyachts.com Interview Studio, Olivier Lavagna, General Manager of Ports de Monaco, and Anita Amalberti, Business Development Manager, discussed the strategic vision behind Monaco’s network of world-class marinas but most exclusively Cala del Forte in Ventimiglia.

Lavagna explained that the three ports operate under a unified strategy, creating a seamless experience across Monaco’s maritime network while strengthening regional connectivity. A major milestone came in September 2024, when Cala del Forte was officially recognised as the first Schengen border port of entry for international yachting, a development that as Amalberti noted, ‘it is very important and simplifies formalities for captains and crews, as it’s the first door when coming from the west of France.’ This recognition further enhances the marina’s status as a key Mediterranean hub.

Lavagna added that Marco Cornacchia, having ‘managed the marina since 2018,’ has recently taken on the role of CEO to steer Cala del Forte’s next chapter. With that, the marina is entering a new phase of growth focused on operational excellence and an elevated guest experience. New dining, shopping, and leisure amenities have transformed the port into a vibrant lifestyle destination, reinforcing its reputation as far more than just a berthing point.

From innovative services such as underwater drone hull inspections to world-class hospitality, Cala del Forte embodies Ports de Monaco’s vision of combining cutting-edge technology with refined service, continuing to set the standard for luxury yachting in the region.
