MYS 2025: The Debut of the Blue Wake Awards at the Monaco Yacht Show

By Grace Elmes

The Monaco Yacht Show 2025 set the stage for the debut of the Blue Wake Award for some 400 guests who gathered at Le Méridien Beach Plaza for the Grand Opening Night with Shari Liu as the presenter. The hall brimmed with designers, shipbuilders, technologists and sponsors; a cross-section of voices now united by the imperative of sustainable yachting.

The awards are an integral branch of the broader Blue Wake programme, launched by the Monaco Yacht Show in collaboration with the Water Revolution Foundation. Its mission: to spotlight and reward credible, high-impact environmental solutions in yacht design, onboard systems, materials, and propulsion.

What makes the Blue Wake Awards distinct is the rigor behind its purpose, parallel to ‘the role of the yacht show which is to shine the light on what the industry is doing’ explains Gaëlle Tallarida, Managing Director, Monaco Yacht Show. All nominees are drawn from exhibitors already validated under the Blue Wake programme. Solutions are judged through a transparent, science-based framework developed with the Water Revolution Foundation.

Five winners stood out for their trailblazing solutions: TYKUN for its hydrogen-powered tender system, Tai Ping for its elegant biodegradable textiles, Deasyl for groundbreaking low-emission fuels, and Sanlorenzo, for its revolutionary fuel-cell yacht. The evening’s most coveted prize, the Special Jury Award, went to Silver Yachts’ catamaran Reduce, applauded for its bold, recyclable design and striking efficiency.

Following the awards ceremony, guests spilled out onto the terrace and continued the celebration. As the night drew to a close, it offered everyone a moment to reflect on the yachting industry’s impressive innovations and the sustainable strides it is making, particularly with the help of the Monaco Yacht Show.
