MYS 2025: YPI Crew on Supporting Crew Through Tech and Trust

By Nora Hart

Laurence Lewis, President of YPI Crew, joined us at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show to reflect on a remarkable year for the yacht crew recruitment specialist. With a noticeable spike in brokerage activity, particularly in the 40-50 metre range, 2025 proved a dynamic landscape for both owners and crew alike.

Speaking with host Shari Liu, Lewis highlighted the importance of the show not just as an industry event, but as a personal opportunity to see crew members in action; how they present themselves, and how they represent the yachts they serve. ‘As people we are the same, day in and day out,’ she said. ‘AI can help you, but maintain being genuine about yourself and your career.’

In a market that remains tight and ever-evolving, YPI Crew has embraced technology as a tool to enhance, not replace, the human touch at the heart of recruitment. With AI-driven tools streamlining the process, Lewis noted the importance of staying present and responsive: ‘My team now helps lift the load, not add to it.’

With a clear vision to guide each generation of crew in realising their full potential, YPI Crew continues to embrace the future of yachting, balancing innovation with empathy, and technology with trust.
