MYS 2026: Toby Moore on the Making of Monaco Yacht Show

By Keelin Brook

Thirty-five editions in, Monaco Yacht Show is still rearranging its own furniture. This year brings a new Designer Gallery, a Tender Water Presentation at Quai Antoine Ier, and a BOAT Lounge built for conversation rather than display — a notable amount of change for an event with this much institutional weight behind it, and Toby Moore's first edition at the helm of Informa Prestige.

Sitting down with Shari Liu at the Monaco Yacht Show, Toby Moore is taking stock of a show that looks noticeably different this year. As he steps into his first year steering Informa Prestige, the 2026 edition brings several new initiatives designed to change how visitors experience MYS, from a dedicated Designer Gallery to a new Tender Water Presentation and the introduction of the BOAT Lounge.

The changes come as MYS marks its 35th anniversary, giving Moore a natural opportunity to look at what the show needs to offer today, and where it could go next.

One of the most significant additions is the Designer Gallery, bringing naval architects and designers together in one dedicated space. For Moore, the value lies in creating more opportunities for owners to meet the people shaping the industry.

“For a superyacht owner to speak to designers and get that human touch is a really important part of moving forward.”

It is an approach that puts greater emphasis on the conversations behind a yacht, rather than focusing solely on the finished vessels in the harbour. The same thinking extends to the water, with 76 tenders forming part of this year’s new Tender Water Presentation. Taking the Adventure Area out onto the water at Quai Antoine Ier gives visitors a more hands-on way to experience the latest tenders, while broadening the show beyond its traditional yacht displays.

Meanwhile, the new BOAT Lounge has been created specifically around meetings, providing a dedicated setting for conversations between industry professionals, owners and visitors. It reflects a wider shift towards making the spaces between the yachts just as purposeful as the yachts themselves.

For Moore, the changes at MYS also sit within a much broader picture for the superyacht industry. With Informa Prestige preparing to launch Future of Refit in Monaco in March 2027, the focus is already moving towards the next chapter of the existing fleet.

“There was a boom in superyachts built 10-15 years ago... Now that fleet has to be updated.”

From new spaces at MYS to the growing importance of refit, Moore’s conversation with Shari offers a glimpse into how he sees the show, and the wider industry around it, evolving.
