MYS: First Episode of 'This is Monaco' Series Launches
The first episode of ‘This is Monaco’ has officially launched and is now streaming on Superyachts.com. In a brand-new series, we’ll be giving you a glimpse into the historical legacy behind the greatest yacht show on earth, the luxury lifestyle that encompasses it, and the new wave of yacht owners that wait on the horizon.
Monaco is a yachting destination truly like no other. Nestled comfortably between the Alps and the Mediterranean, the small principality of Monaco has grown from infancy to global giant, offering a captivating combination of modern luxury, sophisticated style, and enduring culture.
However, over the course of the past two decades, Monaco Yacht Show’s long standing legacy has become synonymous with far more than Hollywood glamour and epicureanism.
“There has been tremendous growth and evolution for the show, and I’m very proud of what it has become. It really is the jewel and the crown of this industry.” says Charlie McCurdy, President and CEO, Informa Markets.
With more than 80 companies dedicated to covering a variety of sectors, Monaco Yacht Show has quickly established itself as a shining example of eco-consciousness, now renowned for its huge efforts into the protection and preservation of sustainable initiatives in yachting.
“The yacht show is very much part of the contemporary image of Monaco now,” says Prince Albert of Monaco. “It’s considered by most as the second biggest event in Monaco. We want to maintain Monaco’s appeal, its beauty, and attraction as we continue to move it into this century.”
The show and its exhibitors must now also meet the demands of a new generation of yacht owners that feel the urge to contribute to this ‘green attitude’. ‘This is Monaco’ seeks to highlight the extravagant and technologically-advanced desires of younger clientele, and how brokerages, shipyards and yacht enthusiasts alike must navigate and adapt to these changes.
“In my opinion, there are only two yacht shows in the world. This is the one that matters. Look at the quality of the clientele, look at the number of yachts in the harbour which is anchored in the bay. I don’t think there is any other place in the world where there are so many large yachts of this size,” comments Antoine Althaus, Fraser Yachts.
