Nauta Design Introduces Project Velor with Open-Air Water Patio

By Nora Hart

Nauta Design has revealed Project Velor, a 75-metre superyacht concept that brings a fresh approach to life on the water. With a focus on space, flexibility, and direct connection to the sea, Velor is built around its standout open-air water patio, a versatile beach club that transforms how guests experience the aft section of the yacht.

Based in Milan, Nauta Design has been a leading name in yacht design since 1985, known for combining clean, modern aesthetics with efficient layouts across both sailing and motor yachts. Project Velor continues this tradition, blending elegant lines with innovative spatial planning. While the yacht maintains the size and comfort expected of a vessel in this class, it achieves that using just four decks instead of the typical five, thanks to a reconfigured engine room placed on the under-lower deck. This technical solution unlocks new design possibilities and frees up valuable living space.

The water patio is one of the clearest expressions of this extra freedom. Located aft on the lower deck, it acts as a generous, multi-use lounge right at water level. Folding side platforms extend the space outward, allowing guests to board from tenders or simply enjoy proximity to the sea. Glass panels slide away to open the area fully, making it usable year-round, while its seamless flow into the spa and wellness zone gives it a relaxed, resort-like feel.

The design continues throughout the yacht with wide, open decks, carefully planned interiors, and visual connections between levels. From the transformable sun deck to private foredeck retreats, every area is meant to be used throughout the day, in all conditions, without excess or over-complication.

With Project Velor, Nauta Design showcases a modern approach to superyacht living, one that puts thoughtful design and quality of experience above sheer scale or ornamentation. The water patio may be the most visible example, but it’s just one part of a broader vision: a yacht where comfort, space, and connection to the sea are always within reach.
