Nauta Designed S/Y MY SONG Sees Number of Sailing Successes
Italian design studio Nauta Design and Finnish shipyard Nautor's Swan have revealed an insight into the sailing successes of their recently launched sailing yacht, ‘My Song’. Delivered in July this year, the 24.7m vessel became the first hull to be built from the brand-new ClubSwan 80 class of one-design race boats, and has since showcased a number of ‘electrifying performances’ in her first sailing cups.
Hitting the water for the first time in June, the 24.7m sailing yacht 'My Song' perfectly embodies the Finnish shipyard’s values of providing, ‘style, speed, innovation, technology and competitive sailing potential’.
Featuring Nauta Design’s ‘lightweight’, futuristic, and uniquely removable cruising interiors, the sleek vessel has certainly been designed with speed in mind. Born from the drawing table of Nautor’s Swan, with design from Juan-K Design, CFD development and numerous other, invaluable, design teams, 'My Song' has caused perfect chaos on the competitive sailing front.
Recently partaking in races around the world, the 24.7m yacht has successfully achieved podium finishes in both the esteemed Rolex Swan Cup, and, in two races out of four, of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup: blowing the competition away in the stunning waters of Sardinia.
Mario Pedol, CEO and Partner of Nauta Design commented: ‘despite very little experience of the yacht, they [the race crew] took a first and a third place on different days of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. We couldn’t be more happy!’
Experienced maxi sailor, industrialist and owner of 'My Song', Pier Luigi Loro Piana, shared his elation: ‘this boat has been a labour of love played out over three years. Not a day has gone by when I haven’t intervened in the project directly. Just to step aboard this beautiful yacht now is a delight, but to make two podium finishes in our first regattas shows there is exceptional potential here.’
As a brand new vessel, fresh to the sailing competition scene, 'My Song' did the unexpected in securing multiple podiums with her ‘newbie race crew’. The admirable results were made all the more impressive, as the 24.7m went up against some of the toughest large sailing yacht competition in the world.
Representing the first vessel from the new ClubSwan 80 series, she has marvellously highlighted her high-class build quality and innovative removable interiors from Nauta.
‘ClubSwan 80 was built by putting together the most brilliant minds in the sailing industry, and with their know-how, they made this project possible,’ stated the yard.
Giovanni Pomati, CEO of Nautor Group, added: ‘As My Song planed past bigger boats, the sailing world sat up and took notice. Personally, I would love to see a fleet of at least five ClubSwan 80s competing in the maxi events, and I think that is a real possibility in coming years.'
