Nuvolari Lenard’s 52m NL 50 Plus: A Timeless Design With a Timely Delivery

Nuvolari Lenard has been creating sensational superyachts for the past 30 years, renowned for an extraordinary depth of design experience and maintaining excellent client relationships. The Italian yard has channelled its expertise into a new range of yachts developed in conjunction with Mengi Yay and brokerage partner Camper & Nicholsons: the NL 50 Plus. 

This 52m design falls just under the 500 GT regulatory boundary at 499 GT, offering incredible amenities, expansive deck spaces, customisable interiors and a reduced build time. She features large expanses of glass, lending her spacious interiors to have an indoor-outdoor feel.  

‘Our experience and the partnership with Mengi Yay and Camper & Nicholsons will be hugely beneficial,’ commented Carlo Nuvolari, Co-founder of the Nuvolari Lenard studio. ‘We have all the Nuvolari Lenard Plus Capsule engineered and there is an NL 50 Plus in the shipyard, so the building process is underway and it is not just a drawing. Working with C&N means we can also draw on their experience to make the communication, coordination and control of the projects much easier.’

Van Oossanen has penned the highly efficient hull design and structural design of the NL 50 Plus, ensuring that both fuel consumption and noise onboard remain low. The design is inspired by the understanding of how Owners wish to use their yachts, one example shown through the carefully-designed interiors that flow whilst separating crew and guests.

Design knowledge has been partnered with design flair as the NL 50 Plus boasts a striking profile, style lines and acres of glass. Nuvolari commented: ‘The secret is in proportions. The yacht seen from the stern is very aggressive and looks bigger. The bow looks serious and will not lose its value because it is not extravagant, unlike some of the crazy bow shapes we see around.’

She boasts exceptional deck areas, with the stern section including a vast beach club and sea terrace with drop-down platform elements. The foredeck lounge doubles as an outdoor cinema, whilst the model features one of the largest sundecks in her category completed with a custom heated spa pool and fire pit. A seven metre tender is able to be accommodated, alongside a crew tender and a plethora of water toys. 

The NL 50 Plus has a five cabin layout, with four VIP guests located on the lower deck that boast an abundance of space and volume as well as a 50 sqm Owner’s suite forward on the main deck. It features a drawer-style slide-out terrace, allowing for different terrace configurations and ensuring that the Owner can use it freely without needing to call for crew assistance. 

The entire interior remains a customisable canvas upon which Owner’s can add their own style and personality, Nuvolari commented: ‘We have variation of the interior style with multiple options for the décor… and we also studied and engineered in advance many of the interior and deck options – however, when potential owners see the layout we have created, I think the majority of them will find it is exactly what they like and that it exactly matches their needs. The freedom to change is always there.’

Setting the NL 50 Plus apart is its ability to be built to an advantageous timeframe, ensuring quicker delivery than other comparable yachts whilst still offering the advantages of a custom build. The holistic design of the model is completed to a comprehensive level of detail, alongside pre-engineered modules, allowing for Owners to enjoy the design and build process.
