Palumbo Superyachts Eye Perini Navi Acquisition

By George Bains

Palumbo Superyachts, one of the largest marine networks in the Mediterranean which encompasses renowned brands ISA Yachts, Columbus Yachts, Mondomarine, Extra Yachts and Palumbo SY Refit, has declared its interest in acquiring the assets of Perini Navi. Last week the Lucca Court determined that Perini Navi had gone bankrupt and will be proceeding through a bankruptcy auction.

Palumbo began a steady expansion years ago with the strategic acquisition of important brands and facilities including Mondomarine. Now, the prestigious Italian group has announced its intention to verify the conditions for participation in the auction procedure for the acquisition of the Perini Navi brand and production facilities of Viareggio and La Spezia.

Perini Navi is an integral pillar of the superyacht industry, the builder of a mesmerising fleet of vessels that includes the notorious Maltese Falcon.

Palumbo Superyachts has 10 superyachts, ranging from 30 to 60 metres, currently under construction, and through its division Palumbo SY Refit has completed over 450 refits of superyachts from 30 to 150 metres in the last few years in its network of 5 shipyards across the Mediterranean.

It would be a dark day to ever see the cessation of operations of one of the most established brands in yachting. Palumbo Superyachts has consistently demonstrated its credentials across all brands for building exquisite superyachts, and it would certainly be a fascinating development to see Perini Navi form part of the Palumbo Group.
