Porto Montenegro to Kick Off Active Summer Season

By George Bains

Porto Montenegro, the marina firmly establishing itself as homeport of choice in the Central Mediterranean, returns from the Covid-19 disruption with an active calendar. Montenegro has recently re-opened its borders and removed quarantine periods for incoming yachts, and Porto Montenegro has much in store to keep yachting professionals entertained.

During the lockdown period, Porto Montenegro kept very much on the front foot to ensure guests and crew still enjoyed full services. A virtual concierge service helped to maintain important face-to-face interaction with visitors, while crew were still able to access a full programme of online activities. From July, Porto Montenegro will have its summer season of activities in full flow with an exciting calendar of events.

The curtain-raising event is scheduled to be the Superyacht Games at the start of July, whereby the Crew Club will host everything from pool parties and pub quizzes to tennis challenges in a bid to make up for lost time and fun.

There will also be a return to the usual buzz around the village’s hotspots, namely The Clubhouse and Blue Room. The two venues have become synonymous as vibrant crew entertainment venues, with live music and terrace bars in an ideal location for post-work relaxation. The Blue Room, the newer of the two venues, was set up to rival The Clubhouse as a complete entertainment hub. Everything from live sports, movie screenings, DJs and cultural events are on offer in this chic hangout. While the yachts rest in the perfect setting against the backdrop of UNESCO-listed Boka Bay, the crew have a thriving social scene to indulge in, so it is no wonder Captains and crew alike love Porto Montenegro as a destination.

There is also a thriving business scene that is growing year on year in the host town of Tivat. The Arsenal Business Club, located near the Blue Room, is an office rental hub that is home to both international and local yachting businesses, including Stellamar Recruitment and The Adriatic Yachting Association. In July 2019, Porto Montenegro announced the opening of new offices where prominent industry names including Sunreef, Beneteau and Monte Carlo Yachts are based.

There is no doubt that the innovative and strategic business model of Porto Montenegro is paying dividends in its growing acclaim and visitation numbers. 2019 was confirmed as a record high year for the marina with over 2,000 unique yacht arrivals and 8,000 overall entries. At the core of the marina’s success are its state-of-the-art facilities, unrivalled service, and pristine location in Boka Bay. The developments on top of this show that Porto Montenegro is committed to staying on the front foot in terms of delivering an all-year round luxury superyacht destination, ticking every box for owners, Captains and crew.
