Project 406: Royal Huisman's Big Fisher Dubbed "Theatre of the Ocean"

By Heather Collier

Another major step in the build of Project 406, a stunning 52m, six deck, true sportfish superyacht, has been completed. Set to be the largest in the world, the superstructure has now been skillfully lowered on to the hull.

The carefully planned installation of the decks took place inside Hall 2 at Royal Huisman’s headquarters in Vollenhove and was attended by the owner’s team, naval architects, designers and specialist consultants alongside the team from the shipyard.

The Royal Huisman team continues working in parallel on the board systems and other technical installations with innovative features and components, such as laser-powered exterior lighting.

Project 406 is without a doubt set to be an exceptional, one of a kind vessel. Not only will she be the largest, but also the most luxurious, finely appointed, meticulously engineered and impressive sportfish yacht on the globe  – with all the amenities of a modern day superyacht.

With a highly distinctive design, including a long bow and high bulwarks sweeping through a clear sheer to a low cockpit aft, Project 406 demonstrates the perfect blend of minimalism and luxury. In addition, the high tower offers outstanding views with a downward angle on the water for specialised fishing from a superb viewing platform for guests.

A Sky Lounge also provides an impressive view at the daytime theatre of sportfishing. By night, the space allows a relaxed ambience and stunning outlook of the night sky.

Her naval architecture, dramatic exterior and yet-to-be-revealed interior design was crafted by Vripack Yacht Design Studio. Royal Huisman is the superyacht builder with a highly capable and innovative engineering and production team. An expert team of 300 individuals continue to work tirelessly with the owner’s representative and his other team members, including Bush & Noble for expertise on sportfishing and classic yacht forms and Hampshire Marine for the day-to-day technical aspects at the shipyard.

Flexibility has also appeared to be a vital part of the design and build process, including Project 406’s now fitted Alustar® aluminum superstructure. Its specification was prepared and detailed by Royal Huisman’s engineering departments. Its production was outsourced to one of many highly qualified co-makers, demonstrating collaboration and efficiency in action to meet key client objectives.

“Royal Huisman has built its reputation by fulfilling the most ambitious and challenging dreams of its clients,” commented Royal Huisman CEO Jan Timmerman.

“We create yachts of extraordinary individuality, with unrivaled levels of craftmanship and reliability. So it is a privilege to be selected by the owner’s team to realize this unique sportfish superyacht. We look forward to our next meeting when we celebrate the launch of the finished product. Project 406 will be another masterpiece of creativity, innovation and expertise. And always, uniquely, an individual Royal Huisman motoryacht.”

On course to be launched in 2023, Project 406's smooth progress towards the fulfilment of her owner’s aspirations is set to make her a true icon upon delivery.
