Project FOX is Delivered: Daring and Ready For Adventure

By Sophia Spanton

Pendennis has recently announced the highly exciting news that the 35-metre expedition yacht, FOX, has successfully been delivered. Designed to handle diverse environments, from tropical waters to icy Arctic seas, FOX represents true potential for extreme latitude exploration.

Project Fox is the result of a collaboration between Q London and Falmouth-based shipyard Pendennis: a compact explorer vessel that challenges traditional notions of luxury yachting.

Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, FOX combines the robustness of an expedition vessel with the manoeuvrability of a smaller yacht, setting a new standard in the expedition market.

It's interesting to note that the definition of ‘expedition yacht’ is evolving, and there's a growing trend towards smaller, more agile vessels like the FOX, which offer a different approach to exploration. FOX’s smaller size benefits both agility and accessibility, with her shallow draft allowing her to access areas that are usually unreachable by yacht, making her uniquely suited for exploring secluded coves and hidden harbours.

Despite her compact dimensions, FOX maintains high standards of luxury accommodation Her interior design balances contemporary aesthetics with practical features. She features a full-beam master suite and four additional ensuite cabins, with each area onboard feeling larger than it actually is due to impressive ceiling heights. FOX’s interiors have been cleverly arranged and optimised to maximise the sense of openness.

FOX’s exterior profile is eye-catching on the water, with a grey hull and white superstructure. A key feature of her design is the 103.5 square metre aft deck, a multifunctional space that can be transformed for various uses; from entertainment with DJ equipment and a bar to adventure activities with storage for water sports equipment.

Toby Allies, Managing Director at Pendennis, describes FOX as a ‘sleek, modern and unfussy engineering platform’, encapsulating the yacht's design philosophy, which prioritises functionality and adaptability without compromising on comfort or style.

FOX has completed her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean, demonstrating her capabilities in real-world conditions. Ian Sherwood, of Burgess has commented that FOX will be ‘well regarded by all those she encounters’, appealing to a demographic of yacht enthusiasts who are looking for unique experiences over traditional luxury cruising.
