Project MILKY WAYS: Redefining Scale and Versatility

By Nora Hart

Project MILKY WAYS epitomises the art of intelligent compromise. At 50 metres, she may sit below the 100-metre giants her owner is accustomed to chartering, yet this Vripack-designed superyacht has been conceived with the confidence and intent of a much larger vessel. Built by MCP Yachts, she will enter the water as the largest private yacht ever constructed in Brazil, signalling a milestone moment for the country’s growing superyacht industry.

From the outset, Project MILKY WAYS was driven by a clear philosophy: to merge private family life with serious business capability, all within the constraints of 499GT. Her semi-planing, full-aluminium hull and purposeful profile reflect this duality, with a plumb bow that lends both a contemporary edge and tangible gains in interior volume. Long, light and relatively slender, the yacht has been extensively optimised for comfort, promising a smooth ride across Brazilian and Caribbean waters.

Designed externally and architecturally by Vripack, with interiors and construction overseen by MCP, the yacht’s layout is defined by clever layering of spaces rather than sheer size. Nowhere is this more evident than in the ‘people pad,’ an overwater terrace stepping up from the main deck aft that functions as a secondary outdoor lounge. Positioned closer to the sea than a traditional sun deck, it offers a relaxed, sociable atmosphere, supported by a double-sided bar serving both levels.

The exterior continues to unfold with purpose. A sheltered beach club on the lower deck connects directly to wellness facilities including a sauna, fitness area and spa pool, while fold-down side terraces significantly expand the usable footprint at anchor. Above, the bridge deck balances leisure and functionality with al fresco dining arranged around a firepit, and a forward helideck. When not in use for aviation, the space converts into a basketball court, a small detail that underscores the yacht’s family-first mindset.

Inside, Project MILKY WAYS has been tailored for an owner who conducts business as fluidly as he entertains. Two dedicated offices are incorporated into the layout, one adjacent to the bridge deck sky lounge, complete with bar and walk-in wine cellar, and a second, more private office leading directly into the full-beam master suite. Guest accommodation is equally generous for a yacht of this size, with two VIP cabins and two twins, while a cigar lounge with a fold-down balcony adds a final note of indulgence.

Capable of 21 knots and offering a range of 3,500 nautical miles at an economical cruising speed of 11 knots, Project MILKY WAYS is scheduled for delivery in June 2027. More than a regional flagship, she stands as a compelling example of how thoughtful design can compress the experience of a much larger yacht into a more agile, purposeful platform, and in doing so, quietly redefine expectations of what 50 metres can deliver.
