Project Pelagos: New Arksen 85/02 Images Unveiled

The second build, known as Project Pelagos, named after the Greek phrase for 'wide open sea' or 'high seas', is currently under construction at Arksen’s Wight Shipyard. With the bridge deck now on, she has moved into the interior fit-out shed, alongside her sister Project Ocean this week.

After a successful sale in September of last year, Project Pelagos is due to complete her first voyage on the water this winter, with hopes of being revealed in November 2022, providing 12 berths in a six-cabin configuration.

As with all Arksen vessels, the Arksen 85 offers robust build quality, excellent reliability, and superb efficiency, combined with comfort, style and safety, as expected from modern, long-range cruising vessels.

In terms of her interior, she was penned by Design Unlimited. It has been hinted that Pelagos will have a traditional explorer feel but her use will be different from most, and in turn this will be reflected in her interiors. The styling and decor will hone in on al fresco living, as per the owner’s request to cruise in the Mediterranean.

Arksen's client-led approach is fused with a sustainable focus, all designed with a mission in mind to work alongside partners who aim to head in an eco-conscious direction. Designed by naval architect Humphrey’s Yacht Design, the explorer boasts a hull and superstructure constructed from recycled aluminium that can be reused at the end of the vessel’s life.

The core materials on Project Pelagos are comprised of natural and whitewashed timber, which is easily recycled after use, and all laminates on-board are made from paper. The fabrics used in upholstery have sustainable credentials, for example, the REVYVA fabric is made of 100% recycled post-consumer plastic bottles, all of which are ultimately recyclable.

Project Ocean will be making her global debut at Dusseldorf Boat Show 2023. For those who wish to see Arksen’s vessels far sooner, yachting enthusiasts will have the opportunity explore their exhibition at the Southampton Boat Show, taking place this September from the 16th to the 25th, for the exciting launch of their brand new Arksen Adventure Series.

Arksen 85 hull number 3 is also scheduled to have delivery available in Summer 2023.
