Project WITCHCRAFT: Second Amels 60 Launched

By Emily Dawkins

The second 60m superyacht from the Amels 60 range, Amels 6002, Project WITCHCRAFT, has been launched from the Amels and Damen Yachting drydock in the Netherlands. Her launch marks the start of her final outfitting process, ahead of delivery to her owner later this year.

Having spent the last 12 months at the Dutch yard's Vlissingen outfitting facilities, onlookers were waiting in keen anticipation as the second unit from the new generation of Amels 60 superyachts left her build shed. Amels 6002, named Project WITCHCRAFT, follows 60m COME TOGETHER, the first Amels 60, who was delivered to her owner last month.

Project WITCHCRAFT’s bright superstructure gleamed as it hit the light for the first time in the Netherlands. Featuring cool-toned colour schemes, the 60m vessel’s colour palette was not the only thing about her exterior that caught the onlookers' attention. A notable change to the styling of the signature Amels exterior windows was requested by the owner, and showcases a great example of how versatile and adaptable this Limited Editions range truly is: maximising customisation whilst ensuring fast delivery, proven technical build abilities and reputable naval architecture.

‘Watching 6002 head outside for the first time signifies everything the team has achieved since she arrived here in Vlissingen last July. And by team, I mean everyone involved in making this milestone happen – the Damen Yachting team, the Owner's team and all our co-workers,’ commented Arie Midavaine, Damen Yachting Project Manager, ‘it's down to the great collaboration between all of these parties that we are standing here admiring this stunning new 60-metre in the daylight and open air. I am looking forward to the final outfitting phase now and getting her out on the water!’

The eye-catching Amels 60 range has been designed by none other than world-renowned yacht designer Espen Øino, and is an exemplar statement of the yard’s drive to deliver yachts designed for the future.

Inside, Project WITCHCRAFT welcomes 12 guests and 12 crew. With an emphasis on space onboard, guests can enjoy a large sun deck, spacious swim platform and a luxury folding balcony from the owner’s suite. With a gross tonnage of 830, the 60m even offers space for a 9m tender on the foredeck. Her interior has been designed by the owner’s choice of designer and personalised to meet their desires and requirements.

Moran Yacht & Ship has represented the owner through the build process. A representative from the brokerage firm commented: ‘We are truly excited to see Project WITCHCRAFT emerge from the finishing shed and into the water for the first time. This milestone is always a special moment in the construction schedule. Moran Yacht & Ship are very proud of the many customizations we were able to implement into this platform, which is a testament to the Damen Yachting engineering and production team.  The entire Owner’s team is looking forward to the final stages of production and moving towards another successful delivery.’

We are looking forward to bringing our readers the latest news about Project WITCHCRAFT, in anticipation of her delivery this Autumn.
