Rodriguez Design Unveils 84m Concept CATALINA

By Emily Dawkins

Spanish design studio Rodriguez Design has unveiled the renderings of a brand new 84-metre superyacht concept. Named CATALINA, the sleek grey motor yacht was designed with the intention of being the ultimate charter vessel, and with extensive outdoor space, an expansive beach club terrace, and several other attractive features, she appears to be nothing less…

84m CATALINA flaunts a sophisticated yet modernly timeless exterior profile. Characterised by elegant sweeping lines that stretch from bow to beach club, an intriguing dark grey colour palette, as well as an extensive use of glass to connect the outside with the in, this new concept from Rodriguez Design is certainly a masterpiece.

Across five grand decks, CATALINA boasts an array of impressive outdoor features and amenities, including several ‘chill-out’ zones, two jacuzzis, a helipad, and a host of alfresco dining spaces. A notable highlight of her exterior is the incredible 102m2 beach deck with a 6.7-metre-long pool. Already grand in size and stature, this low-lying deck can cleverly expand on each side by a significant 40sqm thanks to two folding balconies. Sitting just above the beach deck pool, only a few stairs upwards, is a petite but welcoming mezzanine deck which holds one of the yacht’s two jacuzzis. The second of CATALINA’s jacuzzis is located 12 metres above water on her spectacular sky deck, which unsurprisingly offers unparalleled views from above.

Inside, CATALINA promises just as comfortable and luxurious an experience for guests as her outside spaces. Penned by Ignacio Rodriguez of Rodriguez Design, the 84m’s stylised interiors have been created to be, ‘modern and chic’, finished with pastel blue accents and hammered bronze details throughout.

A large open-plan saloon, informal dining area and main dining room are located on the main deck, whilst a second and ‘oversized’ saloon on the upper deck offers three separate areas for entertaining and relaxing, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows. The first of the three is fitted with protruding glass pieces that go onto the deck to create a unique ‘fishbowl effect’, bathing the space in copious amounts of sunlight.

With a gross tonnage of 2300, accommodation onboard CATALINA comprises six luxurious cabins for a total of 14 guests. A grand owner’s suite and two VIP cabins are located forward on the main deck, whilst three double cabins are situated on the lower, nearby to a fully equipped sauna, spa, massage room and hairdressing station. Her crew of 22 are also accommodated on the lower deck in nine cabins.

Josh Rodriguez, owner of Rodriguez Design, commented on CATALINA’s final design: ‘The styling of the yacht marks the style language direction of the studio coming into 2023: simple yet elegant lines. Not overtly covered in accents or details, subtle and understated yet rich and complex.'

CATALINA has been designed to reach a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots. Her planned diesel-electric hybrid propulsion is designed to reach a range of 6500 nautical miles at 12 knots. She has a beam of 15.27m and a draft of 3.8m.
