Royal Huisman PHI Excels During Sea Trials

By George Bains

Royal Huisman’s 58.5m motoryacht PHI dazzled on the North Sea as she completed her sea trials ahead of delivery, reaching speeds in excess of 20 knots.

The highly anticipated superyacht was launched in July of this year, and left the Royal Huisman shipyard in Vollenhove in late October to commence her sea trials.

With an overall length of 58.5m, PHI was developed and constructed to remain below 500GT, with both hull and superstructure crafted from aluminium. The superyacht features exterior design and interior layout by Cor D. Rover, with Lawson Robb selected to design the interior spaces. Naval Architecture was taken care of by the renowned Van Oossanen Naval Architects.

“With such a powerful vision, a demand for the absolute highest level of quality available anywhere and such difficult engineering challenges, Royal Huisman were clearly the best partner to build the boat,” said Guy Booth, Owner’s representative and project management.

PHI reached speeds in excess of 20 knots during her second trial on the North Sea, demonstrating the engineering excellence that is behind this otherwise stunning yacht.
