Royal Huisman Proudly Announces Launch of 65m AQUARIUS

By Frances Flannagan

Following detailed outfitting and extensive testing, Royal Huisman has announced that the 65m performance ketch AQUARIUS has hit the water. The skilled team behind her build ensured that she retained the essence of her predecessor, whilst featuring improved performance and a series of sustainable elements.

AQUARIUS is the successor to the first yacht of the same name constructed by the Dutch yard in 2018. Her Owners, who deemed this cruising ketch ‘close to perfect’, wished for a larger yacht with increased performance capabilities, leading to the construction of this beautiful 65 metre.

The experienced team behind this new build includes Royal Huisman, Godfrey Cray, the Owners' project manager, Dykstra Naval Architects and interior designer Mark Whitely.

Jan Timmerman, CEO of Royal Huisman, commented: ‘We are grateful the owners entrusted us with the realisation of their dream, which has become an exceptional and truly beautiful yacht. Aquarius showcases our commitment to innovation and client-focused solutions for both sailing and motoryacht projects.’

She represents the Dutch yard’s commitment to crafting fully custom superyachts, drawing extensively upon her predecessor to retain the elegance that her Owners desired. AQUARIUS is 45 percent larger in volume than her sistership, boasting larger areas for both socialising and for the crew, enhanced integrated systems and a lifting fin keel for optimised performance.

Key lessons learned from the first AQUARIUS, now named APSARA, were implemented in this yacht’s build, as Royal Husiman continues to push the boundaries of innovation whilst drawing upon its wealth of expertise.

AQUARIUS will offer her Owners both high-performance sailing alongside exceptional comfort through her lightweight Alustar® aluminium construction. She has also been built with an emphasis on sustainability, featuring semi-hybrid propulsion that allows for greater energy efficiency and a reduced environmental footprint.

Zimmerman concluded: ‘Each superyacht we build benefits from decades of lessons learned and is tailored precisely to the owner’s vision. Aquarius exemplifies this collaborative approach.’

Following her launch, AQUARIUS will be prepared for steeping before undergoing sea trials ahead of her delivery.
