Royal Huisman Unveils Project 410: The World's Largest Sloop

By Emily Dawkins

Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman has revealed that it will build the world’s largest sloop: 85m/280ft Project 410.

A ‘revolutionary step into the future for superyachts’ is how Royal Huisman announced 85m Project 410 this morning. Following a year of intense development, the new yacht’s designs have been finalised, and preparations for her construction at Royal Huisman’s newbuild facilities in Vollenhove are already underway.

Meticulously designed for an experienced owner, the new and innovative Project 410 has been carefully created to be an iconic, eye-catching yacht in the water, whilst remaining comfortable, safe and luxurious onboard. A collaboration between Frers Design and Wetzels Brown, has resulted in an incredibly unique concept, that has been attentively tailored to the owner's choices.

Mani Frers, from Frers Design, was responsible for the vessel’s exterior design and naval architecture, and has produced a revolutionary initial concept that boasts a clever use of volume and structure. Wetzels Brown’s Gill Brown has created stunning one-of-a-kind interiors, that almost, ‘transport Project 410's guests into a new world’

Not only presenting a magnificent exterior and interior design, Project 410 will also be an eco-friendly yacht, featuring structural recyclability alongside the use of green energy, quiet operation and silent mode sailing. Her new onboard technology qualifies for the Lloyd’s ‘Hybrid Power’ certificate, authenticating her capability of energy regeneration during sailing. Both her exteriors and interiors will utilise recycled or low-impact materials where possible, creating a yacht built for a ‘greener’ future. Project 410 will also be capable of fast yet comfortable sailing, even in lower wind speeds, boasting an impressive ability to build and increase on apparent wind speed.

Peter Naeyé, Royal Huisman’s CCO, commented on the new innovative concept: “It is an extraordinary honor to be entrusted with a project of such scale, ambition, and technical sophistication. This unique Project 410 perfectly reflects ‘who we are and what we do’ at Royal Huisman. A true performance superyacht with supersized dimensions, and full of technical innovations. This project is already iconic in every aspect and will be built by the finest craftsmen in the world in full collaboration with her talented designers. We're all going to enjoy the realisation of bespoke excellence embraced with ’New World’ technology.”

Revealed to an exclusive audience at the start of the St. Barths Bucket Regatta today, the response to Project 410 was positively overwhelming, certainly set to become the most talked-about sloop this year.

With little imagery revealed of her final concept, the descriptions of Project 410's new designs have left excitement in anticipation of her reveal. As her build is soon to begin, we are looking forward to following Project 410’s construction journey, and would like to congratulate Royal Huisman on this exciting new project.
