Sanctuary Cove Launches New Superyacht Development

By George Bains

Sanctuary Cove has launched another multi-million dollar development that further enhances the marina’s its capacity to welcome superyachts to Australia’s Gold Coast.

South East Queensland is flourishing as a vibrant yachting hub, nestled between Australia’s key cruising regions in the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney. Government support for the superyacht industry and significant facility expansions has made the Gold Coast an ideal destination for yachts to be based.

Sanctuary Cove Marina is part of the wider A$2 billion Sanctuary Cove Resort, offering indulgent escapes complete with a lagoon style beach club, golf course, and country club.

The $3.5 million Pier C development announced this week will add a further 31 berths to the marina, taking the capacity of superyachts up to 39 in total. This follows the previous $10 million marina expansion that was completed in June 2021, which added 61 berths to the marina and also saw the introduction of innovative undercover berths fitted by Superior Jetties.

“We are thrilled to officially unveil Pier C as part of our greater superyacht focused plans to address the growing desire from national and international superyacht captains to berth at Sanctuary Cove,” shared Steve Sammes, General Manager of Mulpha Sanctuary Cove Marina.

“The demand for more large-scale berthing opportunities in the South-East is increasing and there is an invaluable economic opportunity to invest in more superyacht driven piers on our coastline. Sanctuary Cove is superyacht ready, now.”

Francesca Rubi, TV Presenter and Australia’s former Below Deck Chief Stewardess, has been announced as official Ambassador of the Sanctuary Cove Marina to help attract yachts to the region.

“I love this industry and I love Australia, so what a perfect match,” said Francesca. “I am the first person to talk someone into starting their yachting career. And, having travelled so much, Australia still has the beast coastline. I would love for more superyachts to cross to our waters.”

The Platinum Gold Anchor Sanctuary Cove was one of seven marinas to recently received its Superyacht Ready accreditation from the Marina Industries Association. With its idyllic setting, enchanting precinct lifestyle, and advanced superyacht infrastructure, Sanctuary Cove is more than a reason in itself to visit the Gold Coast.
