Sanctuary Cove Marina Awarded Platinum Gold Anchor

Gold Coast-based luxury superyacht marina Sanctuary Cove has been awarded Platinum Gold Anchor accreditation by the Marina Industries Association.

Receiving this global accreditation is recognition for the premier yachting and lifestyle destination that Sanctuary Cove has become. The 303-berth marina has recently undergone a A$10 million redevelopment as Queensland invests in establishing a superyacht hub for the Asia Pacific region.

Sanctuary Cove Marina offers all-encompassing marina facilities for recreational vessels, including access to the five-star InterContinental Resort, Golf and Country Club and a vibrant dining and shopping hub.

The award was presented to Sanctuary Cove Marina General Manager Steve Sammes and Greg Shaw, CEO of parent company Mulpha by MIA Director John Hogan and CEO Suzanne Davies.

“Sanctuary Cove Marina has been a 5 Gold Anchor Marina for many years,” said Suzanne Davies, “but the recent marina expansion and the integrated services offered through the hotel, resort and country club make it a worthy Platinum recipient and we are very proud to make the award.”

The Platinum Gold Anchor accreditation requires a rigorous assessment of a marina’s services, procedures and facilities. It involves independent audits of over 100 criteria across all areas of the business including service, facilities and infrastructure and includes a survey of customers.

“The Global Gold Anchor rating system is designed to provide boat owners and marina users with an easy reference system like hotel stary ratings,” said John Hogan, expanding on the detail of the program. “Marinas are independently assessed against over 100 separate criteria which cover management processes, the condition and maintenance of the marina, environmental practices and the ancillary facilities and services. The assessment also involves an anonymous customer survey to further ensure it delivers on its promises.”

Mulpha CEO Greg Shaw said, “This is a tremendous achievement for the marina team’s commitment to provide an unparalleled level of marine experience. Sanctuary Cove has been recognised as a boating and lifestyle destination for more than three decades and this award recognises Mulpha’s dedication and investment in delivering a world-class integrated resort precinct.”

The host of Australia’s major yachting event, the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Sanctuary Cove Marina is a leading destination for superyachts travelling between Sydney and the Great Barrier Reef. The Gold Coast is fast becoming a mecca for superyacht refit and maintenance, and the presence of luxury marinas like Sanctuary Cove allow superyachts to enjoy the incredible cruising grounds in the surrounding area.

Steve Sammes, General Manager of Sanctuary Cove Marina, said,“It’s an absolute thrill to achieve Platinum recognition and a reflection of the commitment by Mulpha to continue to invest in the marina and Sanctuary Cove precinct to enable us to offer a truly exceptional marina experience.

“We are excited to continue to raise the bar for our visitors to Sanctuary Cove.”
