Sanlorenzo Sets a New Course with the 58STEEL, the Future of the 55-60m Superyacht
Sanlorenzo has unveiled the 58STEEL, a superyacht that reimagines what is possible in the 55–60-metre class and ushers in a new era for the shipyard. Fifteen years after reshaping the identity of steel yachts, the brand returns with a model that blends sculptural design, a revolutionary propulsion system, and an unprecedented sense of space. The first unit, PERLA LUNAR, has now taken to the water, with a second hull already in build.
At the heart of the excitement is a breakthrough diesel-electric system, a first for Sanlorenzo’s steel line, centred on five 425 kW generators, a 1 MWh battery pack and azimuthal pods with rotating propellers. This configuration cuts emissions by around 10%, slashes noise and vibration, and enables up to two hours of silent cruising or eight hours of zero-emissions hotel mode at anchor. By condensing the engine room onto a single deck and liberating more than 40 m² of internal volume, the system transforms the yacht not only in performance but in liveability.
Designed by Zuccon International Project, the 58STEEL extends the philosophy of the celebrated 57STEEL, yet every line and proportion has been evolved. With a 10.8-metre beam and a completely new platform, she delivers the interior volumes of a 64-metre yacht while maintaining a profile of poised, architectural elegance. Sanlorenzo has emphasised freedom of layout: two full-beam VIP cabins illuminate the lower deck through sweeping panoramic windows, while the main deck introduces a Supreme VIP cabin that rivals an owner’s suite in comfort and privacy.
For the owner, the upper deck becomes an entirely separate world. Here, a panoramic suite with a private pool, office, dressing room, and a cinema-ready lounge forms a secluded residence suspended over the sea. Aft, the three-sided beach club unfolds into a floating terrace complete with bar, hammam, gym and beauty salon.
Inside, Sanlorenzo’s Style Department has crafted a made-to-measure atmosphere using dark woods, Calacatta Borghini marble, mother-of-pearl, and champagne-toned metals. The main deck lounge merges fluidly with an infinity pool, creating a seamless connection between interior and horizon, while on the owner’s deck, full-height glazing dissolves boundaries entirely.
Externally, the yacht’s sculptural steel surfaces reinforce a signature Sanlorenzo language of restraint and proportion. A newly extended bridge deck elevates both form and function, and the stern’s open-plan beach area stands as a defining expression of the shipyard’s architectural clarity.
Sold by Monaco-based Arcon Yachts, PERLA LUNAR inaugurates a model that reasserts Sanlorenzo’s leadership in the under-2,000 GT segment. For a brand that has long fused engineering prowess with Italian artistry, and is now steering yachting toward sustainable propulsion, the 58STEEL is more than a successor. It is a statement of intent: innovation in communication with beauty, and steel continuously re-imagined for the yachting world.
"This yacht represents evolution, not repetition. With its diesel-electric propulsion system at the core, the 58STEEL unlocks new horizons of freedom: more space, more light, greater efficiency and a profound connection to the sea."
