SEA ROVER Takes Shape as Dutch Design Advances Wellness-First Yacht

The project, developed in partnership with Diana Yacht Design, has now reached the point where the aluminium superstructure is being installed onto the steel hull, while interior production and engineering development continue in parallel. Construction began in September 2025, and the team says the project remains on track as it moves from concept toward completion.

SEA ROVER is being shaped under the direction of Dutch Design founder Scott Blum and award-winning Dutch designer Bernd Weel, with technical project manager Julian van Santen overseeing execution throughout the build. Recent progress has also included an independent survey by Monaco-based ACP Surveyors, which reviewed the vessel’s steelwork and construction process without remarks.

Scott Blum, founder of Dutch Design and the visionarybehind Sea Rover, notes:

'Seeing Sea Rover reach this stage of construction is particularly meaningful because it marks the realization of an idea years in the making. Having spent much of my life aboard yachts around the world, I knew there was an opportunity to rethink how life at sea could support wellbeing and longevity. What began as a personal vision is now taking shape thanks to the dedication and expertise of an extraordinary team, and I couldn't be more excited about what lies ahead.'

The interiors are being developed with California designer Paula Bruss, combining Dutch minimalism with the relaxed refinement of coastal California living. Materials and finishes have been selected with performance in mind, including Joseph Giles hardware, Dornbracht fixtures, Loro Piana marine fabrics and Moore & Giles marine-grade leathers, all chosen to support the project’s wellness-led approach without compromising practicality at sea.

The wellness-first concept is central to the yacht’s identity, with facilities including a spa, gym and adaptable sports court on the bridge deck, offering 360-degree sea views during workouts and spa experiences. A full spa area will include sauna, ice baths, hot baths, massages and infrared light therapy, while the beach club features folding platforms that open to a 270-degree water view.

SEA ROVER will host twelve guests across five cabins, including a main-deck owner’s suite, and a crew of nine in four cabins. The hull measures 42.4 metres, with a beam of 8.9 metres and a range of 3,716 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Dutch Design plans to build ten examples of the yacht, with production limited to ensure exclusivity and bespoke customization. As construction continues, the project is steadily taking shape as a yacht designed to offer a more holistic experience on board, with delivery now firmly targeted for April 2028.
