Second Riva 88’ Folgore Launched

By George Bains

The second unit of the Riva’s new sport-fly has been delivered to her owner following her launch in La Spezia.

The Riva 88’ Folgore is heir to one of the brand’s top-selling yachts, and with an innovative yet instantly recognisably Riva style, she has already become a commercial success for the Italian yacht builder.

With the first unit of the Riva 88’ Folgore launched in May, there is another beautiful Riva yacht headed out of the shipyard to turn heads in marinas. The second unit of the new Riva sport-fly features an exciting combination of innovative vision and legendary hallmarks of an iconic brand. She was built at the Ferretti yard in La Spezia, where the company constructs its models in the 76 to 110-foot range, and where recently private boat shows have been held for customers eager to see the new models.

The design of the Riva 88’ Folgore incorporates some stunning novelties, penned by Officina Italiana Design (the studio behind the entire Riva range). The studio has combined the iconic mahogany and steel detailing of a Riva yacht with carbon fibre elements which encapsulates this crossover of past and present. The exterior and interior design, ergonomics, and materials all have evolved to with modern standards of luxury while still staying true to the legendary history of Riva.

The 26.92m superyacht is product of a collaboration between Officina Italiana Design, the Product Strategy Committee led by My Piero Ferrari and the Ferretti Group’s in-house Engineering Department. Riva continue to deliver exquisite yacht designs which epitomise the values of ‘Made in Italy’ design, so much so that they have been immortalised now in its very own film.
